Contest Dates for the K92 Secret Sound are October 30th, 2023 and ending no later than December 12th, 2023.  For purposes of these rules, “The Contest” refers to the K92 Secret Sound contest.  The contest is open to legal residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia and are 18 years or older.

Employees of WXLK- K92FM, Mel Wheeler, Inc., its advertising and promotional agencies, sponsors including Southern Team, other radio stations and their immediate families and others living in their households are not eligible to win this contest. Only one winner per household per 90 days is permitted in K92 contesting where the prize value is greater than 100 dollars unless otherwise outlined*.

*No one may win the Secret Sound contest more than once in 24 months. Furthermore, anyone winning the prize of at least $1,000 must wait 90 days after the win date before participating in any contest on K92 with a prize valued at less than $100. For prizes valued greater than $100, a 12 month waiting period is required.

Once K92 releases a check to the winner, the check must be cashed or deposited within 90 days, or the check will be void and K92 will not be held responsible for any winnings.

K92 will play “the K92 Secret Sound” on the air 4 times weekdays between 7am to 7pm during the contest period. K92 will solicit the 19th caller on the K92 studio lines. Occasionally, K92 reserves the right to increase the number of daily play times and the dollar amount. If the caller correctly identifies the pre-determined K92 Secret Sound, he/she will win the money in the jackpot. The caller will have to be very specific on the sound in order to win the jackpot. When participating in the K92 Secret Sound contest, winning contestants will be required to identify themselves by stating their first and last name as well as their mailing address and daytime phone number.   Personal information other than information deemed pertinent will not be aired.  Note: if the amount won on any single prize or annual cumulative value is equal to or greater than $600, Federal Law requires for tax purposes, the winner to provide their social security number.  The winner will be mailed a 1099 tax form at the end of the calendar year. Social security numbers are used for identification & tax purposes only.  Before releasing any prize or prize moneys, K92 will require additional proof of identity, such as a driver’s license, state identification card, passport or military identification.

In order for a contest prize to be awarded, a person must legitimately win the contest by complying with all rules and regulations set forth by WXLK/K92. To be confirmed as the winner, he/she will be required to sign a declaration and release form that confirms compliance with the contest rules and acceptance of the decisions of judges, which shall be final; confirms acceptance of the prize awarded; releases K92 and others from any liability; and consents to the use of his/her name, voice and/or photograph or likeness by K92, without further compensation, for purposes of advertising and promotion. If the winner is a minor, a parent or guardian must claim the prize on his/her behalf, so that the winner may be advised of all rules, and to provide a legal signature for the contest release form. In order for K92 to comply with federal tax laws, each winner will be required to provide his/her Social Security number as a condition of receiving the prize. Winners acknowledge that if they enter this contest under a false, fictitious, or fraudulent name and/or Social Security number, they will be automatically disqualified from this contest and any future contests on K92.

By accepting a prize, each winner releases K92, its corporate licensee, Mel Wheeler, Inc., and all of their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, related companies, agents, employees, officers, shareholders, suppliers and retailers and their advertising, contest and production companies and agencies from any and all liability for any loss, harm, damages, cost or expense, including without limitation property damage, personal injury and/or death, arising out of playing the K92 Secret Sound contest or the acceptance, ownership or use of prizes.

Winners will be responsible for any taxes, restrictions or rules set forth by state or federal law relative to prizes or their use.

Any prize not claimed within 30 days from the date won will be deemed forfeited and will remain the property of K92.

K92 reserves the right to increase the dollar amount, change or discontinue the contest at any time and to extend the end date. If the contest is changed or discontinued, K92 assumes no liability of any kind to any player who has partially solved the contest.

K92 assumes no responsibility for any malfunction of any equipment whatsoever, including telephone equipment owned by contestants, the telephone company, or for any effect such malfunction may have on a contestant’s ability to participate in the contest.

In the event of a winner being connected by telephone to K92's winner line and having another party or parties also present on the same line for any reason whatsoever, the winner will be determined by the judges of the contest in accordance with these rules and in their sole discretion.

These rules are in addition to, and complement, any rules said or posted that govern contests on K92. The rules, rights or regulations set forth by K92 for its contests will apply to any K92 contest winner, including any winner of the K92 Secret Sound contest, and they may be subject to change without notice. K92 contest rules may be inspected at the K92 business office during normal business hours. They may also be inspected on the Internet at www.K92radio.com.
